Southeast Cement Promotion Association Donates $250,000 to Middle Tennessee State University School of Concrete and Construction Management’s Building Campaign

Today, the Southeast Cement Promotion Association (SCPA) delivered a check for its total commitment of $250,000 for the School of Concrete and Construction Management’s Building Campaign at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). This university houses the flagship Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program which embarked on raising $5.1M in 2018 to meet the 15% match required by all new capital projects in Tennessee. The State of Tennessee approved the School of Concrete and Construction Management Building on April 30 with funding to be released on July 1st.
All major donors will have designated spaces in the building named for their organization. SCPA secured naming rights for the Student Projects Lab with their donation. The university has already started selecting the designer and will choose a contractor in early Fall. The building will be completed by Fall 2021.
The CIM program at MTSU has graduated over 1,000 students with Bachelor’s Degrees in Concrete Industry Management who have been employed by concrete industry companies primarily in the southeast (Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Kentucky and Arkansas).
The Southeast Cement Promotion Association (SCPA) represents manufacturers and distributors of Portland cement in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Maryland, Virginia/DC, and West Virginia. An affiliate of the Portland Cement Association, SCPA works closely with the American Concrete Pavement Association, the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association, and related local and regional associations and their members.
